The 3BA Concert Band was founded in April 2005 as one of the first Brass Bands in Germany. The band belongs to the Bavarian Brass Band Academy and is the current German Brass Band Champion.
The 3BA Concert Band was able to win this contest seven times, every time since it was started in 2007. The band took part in the B-Section competition of the EBBC from 2008 to 2010. In 2009 they won, in 2008 and 2010 they could reach place two. In April 2012 the 3BA Concert Band played in the Championship section first at the Flemish Open in Mechelen (Belgium). At the World Music Contest in Kerkrade (Netherlands) the band could assert itself in an international competition again and reached the title of the Vice-World champion in the first division in July 2013. By winning the German Brass Band Championship in 2014 again, the 3BA Concert Band was in 2015 the first German band which was ever qualified to play at the EBBC Championship section and took part at the competition in Freiburg, Germany. In Lille, 2016, the 3BA Concert Band reached an eighth place. The Austrian composer and conductor Mag. Thomas Ludescher is the musical director of the Bavarian Brass Band Academy. Thomas Ludescher is lecturer for band conducting at the national music academies Vorarlberg and Tirol (Austria) and at the University of Augsburg (Germany).
3BA Concert Band’s musicians are travelling a lot to come together for rehearsals and concerts as they live in various places in southern Germany. The band always meets for a whole weekend which creates a very special atmosphere. 3BA connects professional musicians, students and laypersons. The youngest band member is 18 years old and she plays Eb Tuba. The oldest player sits almost next to her – he is an 48 years young second trombone player.
